Doug Ford's Power Grab

Summary for those not keeping track: Doug Ford: “I’m going to roll back progress in Ontario by 20 years. “ Toronto: “You suck!” Ford: “Screw you Toronto, I’m going to upset your internal election by removing half your districts, just to fuck with you.” Ontario Judge: “You can’t do that.” Ford: “Screw you Ontario courts, I’m going to override you using a part of the constitution what has never been used in Ontario and was used in Quebec to suppress human rights and impose martial law, because I can.”

Ontario, this is exactly how you end up in a dictatorship; leave the keys off the gun safe, and then hand over the safe to a greedy and paranoid megalomaniac. And you voted him in. Here, in Canada’s biggest province.

The only things stopping him now would be the Federal Government and the Supreme Court of Canada.

When this goes Federal (and it will, if he pulls the trigger), expect a huge national controversy (and maybe full-blown constitutional crisis). Now is the time for all Canadians (whether you live in Ontario or not) to start brushing up on our laws, politics, and history. This is literally a threat to our democracy.
